This week was SWEET! Lori Kinney got baptized! 3 years of meeting with missionaries, and she finally made the commitment! It was pretty special to be there for that. Her husband isn’t a member and he was at her baptism, and it seemed like he was hit with the spirit hard. We are going to try and teach him now.
The other day we had a potluck and bishop comes up to us and asks “Hey elders, what are you going to be doing Thursday at 11am?” “Uhh nothin’ bishop, that’s just our planning day, why?” “Sweet. Elder Knight you are speaking at a funeral, and Elder Pratt you are giving the opening prayer. You both will be pallbearers also.” Then he walked away.. hahaha! So, we ended up having a huge chunk of this lady’s funeral we barely knew from doing service for her once! We didn’t even hardly know her! But, it was pretty cool I guess, how often do you get to go to a funeral on your mission? Elder Knight was pretty stressed. He didn’t know how to act or what emotions to portray so it was pretty interesting. He was teaching the plan of salvation and two of her family members got up and walked out on him, but he got by.
CHRIS SMITH IS GETTING BAPTIZED THIS WEEK!!!!! He is sooo solid! We had a lesson with him Wednesday and at the end he told us he was going to fast for his parents to let him be baptized and not to kick him out. So, we all fasted together and it totally worked. He said he was reading this letter from a missionary the other night and his dad walked in and Chris said “Hey dad. Do you love me? Would you still love me if I got baptized?” his dad says “Yes, I love you, and yes, I will still love you.” His dad is coming to his baptism too! Then Chris asks “Do you think mom will come to my baptism?” and his dad says “Well your mom might treat it like a death in the family”. Later he tells his mom and asks if she will come and she said, “Well I don’t think I could sit through the whole thing without opening my mouth. I’ll pray about it”. So its pretty great! He is going to be an apostle. He read all of Mosiah in two days and cruised on to Alma 38 in 3 days. He loves the Book of Mormon! He is amazing! I’ll send you pictures next week!
Somer and Kole came to church and loved it. We taught Sabbath day observance and read the scripture that if you don’t keep the Sabbath you will be put to death. haha Then somer was talking to her boyfriend, Nolan, and she told him he couldn’t work today or else he will die! Kole says “Yeah Nolan, it’s in the Bible!” hahahah super funny! They are doing great! Kole wants to be baptized October 1st between the conference sessions so we will see what we can do. God truly is blessing this area. No doubt about that!
Well that is about it for this week! I hope you have a great week! Love ya!
