This week was GREAT! We saw a lot of miracles! We have been working with a 15 year old girl who has been wanting to be baptized for over 3 years, but couldn’t because her parents weren’t on board. We had a lesson with her set up, and then a few minutes before we get there we get a text saying that her parents would be there! They had a lot of questions and we ended up teaching them the Restoration and the Spirit was there. They gave her permission to be baptized on Sep. 10th! It was a huge blessing! Her name is Alyssa and she is more active than alot of the girls in the ward. We are pretty excited for her, as well as the rest of the ward.
We had a lesson with one of our investigators with the same baptismal date as Alyssa. His name is Bill Fehrs and is like 70 or so. We needed to teach the Word of Wisdom and so we show up and he was working in his shop. I look over and see a Budlight not even opened yet and just covered in condensation. We have the lesson and he is willing to give it all up! I was a little worried, but he accepted to live it and be baptized on the 10th as well. He came to church yesterday and sat with us and well he kinda fell asleep right after the sacrament! I don’t really blame him either. It was a dry fast and testimony meeting and I would probably do the same if I wasn’t wearing the tag!
Right after sacrament, Brother McGraw came up to us and told us to introduce ourselves to his daughter’s boyfriend. So we do, and he asks “yeah what is this endowment thing about?” Great!….but we said “Well we can come over later today and talk about it if you would like?” We ended up teaching him with her whole family there about the endowment and hit hard on the Restoration, too. He is going to be baptized!!! Doesn’t have a date though.. not yet, at least. The dad said “Now Chris, you were brought into our lives not only because of our daughter, but because you need the gospel in your life. That is the real reason.” It was pretty sweet.
I love being a missionary! It truly is the best thing in the whole world. I have been praying that the Lord will make the rest of my mission just slow down already! It’s been going by so fast and I don’t think I am ready to be on the down hill slope yet. But life goes on, I guess. The great thing is that we don’t need to wear a name tag in order to share this great news with those we love. John 6:66-69 is my favorite passage. “Lord to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life.” Where will our friends go if they want to be sealed as a family forever? Where will they go if they need a priesthood blessing? Where will they go to have the fullness of the gospel? They will look in vain if we don’t share it with them. It’s our duty to do so.
Well I have to go, but I hope you have a great week! I’ll talk to you on the next one! I love you!
